Ours were assigned to the same school as well. We were
assigned our attendance area school which I think was
about our 8th choice.

Jessica Tashker, another twin mom who is not on this
forum, is planning to talk to EPC about the lottery
this year. It looks like all twins were linked - I
haven't encountered one family who got two separate
applications. Linking the applications reduces your
chances of getting a school you want. If you're
interested in talking to her to learn about what she
finds out, and/or discussing round 2 strategies, please
email her: jessica.tashker@gmail.comI'm sorry for
everyone who got a school they aren't happy with! I
hope things go better in Round 2!!

I'm a bit confused by this thread. In the past, people
were upset if their twins were assigned to different
schools. SFUSD has tried to get twin siblings assigned
to the same school even if they were not linked. I
didn't look at the application this year. Isn't there
something to check on the app so the system knows there
is a sibling, even if they're not linked? If so, the
algorithm will run the kids separately. Whichever child
gets the highest ranking school on that family's list,
the system will then try to place the twin in the same
school.Receiving as assignment to a school in your top
10 is pretty good, though I understand you'd prefer
something higher. I would be curious to know how many
families received assignments in their top 5.
