<p>We are excited about the return to school in Fall 2021. Schools will be fully reopened, 5 days a week, and will look a lot like they did in December 2019, but with everyone wearing masks indoors and on buses. Your students’ safety and learning are a priority for us.</p>

<p>We want to assure you that we are following public health guidelines so that we can have all of our students back in school safely.  Research shows that when school districts follow public health guidelines—promoting vaccination to eligible students and staff, consistent and correct masking,  and proper ventilation—the spread of COVID-19 in schools is <strong>much</strong> lower than in the community or even in children's homes, including during surges.</p>

<p>While we strongly believe that in-person learning will best serve the great majority of our students, we understand that in limited cases, certain students may be medically fragile or would face specific health risks by in-person instruction due to COVID-19. In addition to our existing programs of <a href="http://track.spe.schoolmessenger.com/f/a/-Xx9jmb4i3cigzmYyPIVbg~~/AAAAAQA~/RgRi0f-tP0RSaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc2Z1c2QuZWR1L3NjaG9vbC9pbmRlcGVuZGVuY2UtaGlnaC1zY2hvb2wvcmVzb3VyY2VzLWZhbWlsaWVzL2hvdy1hcHBseVcHc2Nob29sbUIKYO4tzPBg2xJ8iFIQaG91c2VAdGVkZHliLm9yZ1gEAAAAAQ~~">Independence High School</a> and Home and Hospital Program, for the 2021-2022 school year we are offering an Online Learning Program for students who meet eligibility requirements. Although we are making every effort to accommodate all qualifying students, space for the Online Learning Program is extremely limited.</p>

<p>Students with specific health risks due to COVID-19 can apply for our new Online Learning Program by July 30. <strong>Because space for the program is extremely limited, priority will be given to students who are medically fragile.</strong> </p>

<p>The application is <strong>due by July 30, 2021</strong>. Families will be informed by email the week of August 9 of their student’s application status.</p>
