<p>Thank you for your partnership as we kept our schools open today—school went smoothly and SFUSD exemplified our core values of being united today. I recognize that there are concerns about the impact of the storm, and would like to reassure you that our schools are safe places where students can learn, receive essential services like nutritious meals, and be in the care of a trusted adult.</p>

<p>We will be providing an update later this evening about our plans for tomorrow. <strong>Please look for an update via email, text message and phone by 8:00 p.m. tonight regarding any changes to the school day tomorrow.</strong></p>

<p>SFUSD has been closely monitoring the forecast and we are working at school sites, and with our partners and the City and County of San Francisco, in response to the storm. Here are a few examples of how we have been doing so since yesterday:</p>

        <li>Worked with our vendor to ensure measures were in place to prevent flooding of their bus lot so that transportation could be provided to students today.</li>
        <li>Ensured food delivery to schools before the storm so that students have access to healthy and nutritious meals.</li>
        <li>We are procuring additional sand bags, and have deployed available sand bags to flood-prone school sites and areas to minimize disruption to instruction and services.</li>
        <li>Activated a virtual SFUSD Emergency Operations Center to respond to impact of the storm, including triaging and addressing the most pressing issues at school sites. </li>
