Dear Parents/Guardians,

The 3rd Grading period for 7th Grade ELA ended with a Discussion Assessment related to the book Patient Zero.

Work for the 4th Period has already started - with a slide presentation based on Patient Zero. Now we are preparing for a Whole Class Discussion Assessment and Informative Essay about Social Contagions. The notes we take in class are very important. As with all Assessments, we work and practice skills together, then students practice in small groups, and finally they they demonstrate the skills on their own.

Taking notes is not exciting but it is important as they are needed for both the Discussion and Essay Assessments. Although time is given in class for all work, students should expect to take work home if class time isn't enough.

To help out, ask your child what they are learning about Social Contagions, including "Is Kindness Contagious?" Being able to verbalize their learning helps significantly. I will post a note when you should start seeing their Essay Outline.

Thank you,

Ms. Luna
