                                                <p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">Happy Spring Break! I am sure the students (and teachers) have been waiting so patiently for this day to come, but I have to say that I am so proud to share that my students have been awesome these last couple of weeks. They continued to push themselves to stay focused and get work done despite the want for a break.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">During this past week, we had time to work on their individual project, except on Wednesday which was our Hoover's Got Talent Show all day! This allowed all students (and families) to come and watch our students up on stage. Yes, students got to cheer their peers and some teachers on with their talents they wanted to share with our school. We also found time to reflect on 7th grade and hopes for 8th grade in letters students wrote to themselves, and a little free time on the yard. </span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">On to the science stuff - well, unfortunately, despite giving a three week notice and a few days of class time, there were some students that did not all begin their project until 2-3 days (or even the same day it was due) to the due date. Students were not allowed to leave the classroom without submitting their work, and yes - there were students who began TODAY during class, and they turned in what they had. Thank you for going along with my accountability antics of signing the half sheet of paper regarding their project progress. I appreciate it, and for families who emailed me to let me know progress of their student's work. They all deserve a well rested break (from science).</span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">We had our peer evaluations on Tuesday, and I talked to students about the two grades that will be visible on Parent/StudentVue. You will see grades for 4th quarter and Spring Semester - the Spring semester is the grade that will go on to the final report card for the year. Please continue to encourage your student to keep up with our work, and to continue to ask for help when they need it. When they return from break, we will be starting our final unit of the school year: Ecology and Human Impact.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">I hope you all have a restful break! Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns and/or comments and I will try to reply when I am able to.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">Take care,</span><br>Mrs. Jennifer Estrella (she/her)<br>7th Grade Science<br>Herbert Hoover Middle School</p>
