<p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">Hello! We are about 15 days away from the end of the school, and the students have been working hard with their final project and I'm looking forward to seeing what they complete in the next few days.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">This week, students continued to work on their solution design as well as were encouraged to begin their class presentations about their group project. Many groups tested their prototype (that means they spoke to different people about what they have created as their solution for helping bring awareness or helping to support organizations) to get feedback to improve their work. I've limited it to a minimum of 15 - 20 folks (depending on if they are a group of 3 or 4 students), and getting feedback twice. Students who have completed getting feedback can see the difference between their first prototype and their second, and it is really good for them to see how feedback makes such a difference, and that we will not always please everyone. A couple of groups completed their testing this week, while others are still running a bit behind. Some of the things that students are planning to do are putting their work on Hawk News, posting them in the hallways of the school, passing out fliers to folks, having a fundraiser to donate money to organizations for the Coral Reefs or the Rainforests, and making websites. I gave students the freedom to decide what they wanted their project to be at the end of this unit and I am impressed by the work they are doing. You should definitely take a moment to check in with them about it.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">As we enter the last couple of weeks of school, students will continue to work on their project and then present to their classmates what they completed for their ecosystem of choice.. We discussed the possibility of doing a non-traditional presentation, but I plan to check in with the classes about this next week. I'm pretty excited to see what the students will do to present their work. </span></p><p><span style="background-color:transparent;color:#000000;">I hope that you are doing well, and as we start to wind down the school year, I ask for patience when it comes to updating work and my replies to any emails you might send. If I do not reply, please do send another one to check in. And please - continue to encourage your student to keep going with their work.
