<p dir="ltr">I am reaching out as part of my commitment to keep you informed of new information during this uncertain time. Today, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie <a href="http://track.spe.schoolmessenger.com/f/a/T6eyAJqrCyVshd-YbhiQyg~~/AAAAARA~/RyyYbGMA_Hh8EfioPz6bBi7BV8pkQB6JnDlQ2kBsPqjeOva1pbLU2_foxGaz_sI_k61I4llxBQ-oSOLhrBxF4dAorIrX3xBcW-XcF1TwvFoGi2sTwKRhF7WiWpNCWZ4R29nuLREv4AXU8ObNm3tS2rIQ5rBj4a1jyW_PnIP8fB8~">announced</a> that the U.S. President has confirmed “that he was calling off any plans for a federal deployment in San Francisco.” </p>

<p dir="ltr">As your superintendent, I am entrusted with the care of 50,000 students and over 8,000 employees. I am greatly relieved to learn that federal troops will not be deployed to San Francisco at this time. We are grateful for the Mayor’s leadership and for the ongoing partnership of all city agencies that continue to work hard to keep our communities safe, supported, and informed during this challenging period.</p>

<p dir="ltr">While we welcome this news, we also recognize that federal immigration enforcement actions continue to create concern and uncertainty for many in our community. Please know that SFUSD remains steadfast in upholding our values. Our schools are safe and welcoming spaces for every student and family, regardless of background or immigration status. We will stay vigilant and continue to communicate clearly about any developments that may affect our school communities.</p>

<p dir="ltr">Our schools are open, and our commitment to serving all students remains unwavering. We are closely monitoring how these events may affect the wider Bay Area as many of our staff, families, and friends live throughout the region. We will continue to share updates as we receive new information.</p>
