Hi all - I'm looking to hire a new nanny starting in
January. I am a stay at home mom and only want someone
part time to help with my babies and also to help me
around the house. I was curious if any of you might be
interested in doing a nanny share of sorts where the
nanny would be at your house part of the week and my
house part of the week. This would be different from
most nanny shares in that s/he wouldn't watch four kids
at once taking turns at both houses but have two kids
at a time and be at your house approximately 20 hours a
week and mine approximately 20 hours. Considering a lot
of nannies are looking for full time work, I thought
this might be a good setup for someone. Let me know if
you might be interested or have thoughts along these
lines by emailing me at heathernodelman at gmail.com. If
you know of any good nannies looking for work, please
pass those names along as well!

3. outdoor kid slide

laurasanfrancisco - 12/15/2011 10:34 pm

We live in a house with a very steep backyard. We are
thinking of making it a bit more kid friendly and would
like to add a slide into the hill we have. A side from
the plastic slides I see online, do you know of a local
company (preferably) that sells other slides, made out
of something else than plastic (don't know what)?
 thanks

4. McMoyler Method or Day One for Newborn Care Class??
--------------------------------------------------------
lhsizemore - 12/15/2011 7:29 pm

My husband and I are trying to decide which class will
be most beneficial in preparing us for our twins
arrival. We are thinking about the McMoyler Method
Course 102 - Infant CPR, Breastfeeding and Newborn Care
Class or the Day One Newborn Care Class along with the
Infant and Child CPR Class. Would appreciate hearing
your experiences with these classes, as well as any
others that you felt were helpful and beneficial.
 Thanks so much!!

First, this happened to me with a woman who may just be
the same person -- a seasoned pro. The interview was
over. Background checks are standard. many nannies
come with their Trustline info.Further, we offered to
do the check through a third party attorney, so we
would not see a single thing about her. All we would
ask is that the attorney tell us if there were any
'issues' which would be previously defined. So, I am
100% behind you. Are you looking for a FT nanny? Feel
free to email me if you want some nanny leads. I just
hired someone after a long search.

I agree, and think you did the right thing too. We
have background checked some but not all of our
caregivers. The ones we didn't were because they had
previous employment with a state child-care/teaching
organization, so felt that their proof of employment
there was good enough b/c they probably do more
 thorough checking than Trustline.I think it's a
definite red flag - we had someone else who said the
same thing to us and it was a deal breaker. She said
something like "trustline goes to far, if I have a
disagreement with my neighbor it shouldn't have
anything to do with my being a good nanny" ummmm...yeah
 it does.

If you were going to pay "over-the-table," you would
have needed her SSN whether or not you did a
background check. It may be that she doesn't have an
SSN, and that's part of her concern.

Since the very beginning, my b/g twins have seemed rather
 oblivious of each other...

I don't have a personal experience to share and I'm not
an expert on twins and development. That said, what
you've described to me sounds normal. As an outsider
reading about it what I see are twins who want you all
to themselves and who are still engaged in parallel
play. When my kids "play together" all they're really
doing is coincidentally playing with the same thing at
the same time instead of stealing it. Have you talked
 to your pediatrician about it?

Could it be that they do not need each other because
there are always many adults available for them to play
with? I think that they are still rather young,
according to what I have read kids mostly "parallel
play" until they are two. That was the reason I did not
put mine in day care before they turned 2. Though, I
think mine were more interested in each other, I
remember them first really interacting when they were 6
months old. they were shrieking at each other and
laughing and having a blast. When they were around 15
months old they played fill and spill together - they
would fill a container with shaker eggs together and
then my son would spill it on himself. But other than
that they did not play together much until recently
(they are two now). Still their games often end in
screaming and sharing conflicts, but they do look for
each other every morning (they sleep in different
rooms) and are happy to see each other. I was always
wondering how other people's twins held hands - mine
never did. Guess what - they just started doing it in
the car! So just wait and yours will get there too.
