1. SF Transitional Kindergarten

sharono - 10/29/2011 10:56 pm
Transitional kindergarten will be new next year. It is
for children born November 2 -- December 2, 2007. The
cutoff date for kindergarten was Dec. 2 for many years.
It will be moved to November 1 next year, October 1,
the following year, and finally September 1 the year
after. Transitional kindergarten is to help during
this transitional period of moving the cutoff date to
September 1. There will be workshops at the SFUSD
Enrollment Fair, November 5, 12:30-1:15pm and
1:30-2:15pm in room E on Transitional Kindergarten.
Families of children turning 5 years old Nov. 2-Dec 2,
2012 are eligible to apply for TK. These children will
attend TK for one year, attend K the next year, and
then be promoted to 1st grade. TK is optional (as is
kindergarten). The application process is the same as
kindergarten. TK is available at all (elementary)
schools. Information on the TK program will not be in
the Enrollment Guide that will be available November 5.
It will have its own supplemental guide. It should be
available on Nov. 5 also. Other workshops scheduled at
the Enrollment Fair areLanguage Pathways for English

(simultaneous Spanish you may find you really need that
to avoid spiking the next morning. Definitely avoid all
desserts/sweets and limit your alcohol (if you aren't
just avoiding alcohol altogether already). For the
weekend I think I would just try to eat 6x a day, pair
carbs with protein at each meal/snack, and skip
high-sugar items like soda, high-sugar fruits (grapes
and bananas are hard for many people to eat, apples and
berries are better I think), jams and honey etc. and
dessert. That will probably be a good start without you
having to freak out and measure every little thing. I
tried to find a sample diet online and found this
one:http://diet.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Sample_Diet_for_Gestational_DiabetesThis
link on Baby Center also explains a bit more about GD.
You may already know most of this stuff but I find
reading the same thing over and over on different sites
helps stuff sink in for
me.http://www.babycenter.com/404_what-type-of-pregnancy-diet-should-i-follow-if-i-have-gestat_3128.bc
