1. Calling for Birth Announcements
--------------------------------------------------------
spassman - 2/15/2012 9:58 pm

Dear New Parents:We at the Multiplicity newsletter team
want to congratulate you on the birth of your new
arrivals and also want you to know there is still a
little time to send in your birth announcement for the
next issue of Multiplicity. To ensure your announcement
is included in the next issue please send an email by
the afternoon of February 18th to
newarrivals at sfpom.org, and include the following
information. You can also feel free to send your
announcement after the above date, and we can include
it in a later issue of Multiplicity. You can either
make a list of the items below, or you can write your
own short paragraph (50 words or less) including the
following info:1: Your and your partner's names
2:
 Names of your new arrivals
3: Birth date
4:
 Heights/weights/other vital stats
5: Any other info
you'd like to provide: e.g., gestation, place of birth,
siblings, pets6: A JPEG photo of your little ones.
 Please make sure it's a high-res photo. Cell-phone
photos don't work well. Please be sure to include the
title "Birth Announcement" in the subject line of your
 message.Thanks very
 much!**********************************************

2. Nanny Contract and Paychecks
--------------------------------------------------------
MamaWobin - 2/15/2012 9:09 am

I see this question posted a few times but my search
didn't find an answer so... Does anyone have an example
of a nanny contract they'd be willing to share? We're
especially interested in one for 6 months as we're
having commitment issues. Also, do people use
Nannychex.com or paychex.com or something similar to
pay their nannies? Or just write personal checks? This
is our first time hiring an employee like this and we
want to do it above the table but not even sure how!
 Any help/advice is appreciated! Thanks!

We're dealing with the same thing. I don't have any
contract advice for you - I guess we're just going to
have to write one ourselves - but for paying them,
there are several services. Examples I've looked into
are GTM, Breedlove, 4nannytaxes, nannychex, Intuit has
a service... they differ slightly in price, and we
haven't picked one yet, but from what I can tell they
will really manage the whole thing for you - calculate
the taxes, issue a pay stub, move a direct deposit from
your account into the nanny's account, and pay your
quarterly taxes on the nanny. If you're going to do it
above the table, I think using one of these services is
a much better idea than writing personal checks.

I have a non-recommendation -- Ready or Not Here We Go:
the Real expert's guide to toddler twins by Lyons. It
didn't seem to have much information at all,
disappointingly useless, I thought. Anyone else find a
book they like about toddler twins or just toddlers?
Maybe the SFPOM should write a book!

We pay the hourly rate while the boys are awake - so
 8am - 8pm -- and then $75 for the overnight fee as
 well.
