Boeddeker Park Groundbreaking on November 13

Join the Trust for Public Land, the Friends of Boeddeker and Rec and Park for a 
much anticipated ground breaking celebration at Boeddeker Park, Tuesday, November
13, at 1 p.m. The Trust for Public Land has partnered with the city to renovate 
three parks across the city, including Hayes Valley Playground in the Western Addition,

Scaregrove a Big Halloween Hit

It was s spectacular Halloween-filled  event at Sigmund Stern Grove this past Saturday
at Scaregrove 2012. Families enjoyed a  spooky haunted house, carnival rides, live
entertainment, hay rides,  arts and crafts and some incredible food.  Thanks for

Fulton Playground Gets New Life

The San Francisco Recreation and Park  Department, along with District 1 Supervisor
Eric Mar, Rec and Park  Commission President Mark Buell, the Department of Public
Works, and  the San Francisco Arts Commission hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on
October 30 with Richmond District neighbors and about 175 students from Argonne 
 Elementary School. This event celebrated one of the many completed park  and playground
renovations from the 2008 voter-backed Clean and Safe  Neighborhood Parks Bond.

Last week, Mayor Ed Lee and Supervisor David Chiu announced new changes to  the 
city's Open Data legislation that will go toward furthering the  city's efforts 
toward more accessible information and government  efficiency.

As an  example of the use of open data, Rec and Park is proud to launch its new 
 FREE mobile application for iPhone. Our new app allows users to search  for parks
and facilities, browse for events, and makes volunteering,  reserving a picnic area
and donating to our department easier. You can  also search and rediscover the 45
pieces of public art located in Golden  Gate Park.

Love your playground!  Join us for a gardening workday at Hayes Valley Playground,
Saturday, November 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  We'll supply the gardening tools and

BVNA's 32nd Annual Tree Planting on November 3

The Buena Vista Neighborhood Association (BVNA)'s 32nd Annual Tree Planting in Buena
Vista Park is this Saturday, November 3, from 9 a.m. until noon.

BVNA members will meet and welcome you all morning long at the base of the Park's
paved Service Road, at the intersection of Buena Vista East/West at Upper Terrace.
 Join us this Saturday to help plant over 100 new trees, shrubs and perennials on
the just-renovated hillside along Buena Vista West. The recent (and soon-upcoming)
rains make this an ideal time to get new plantings in the ground, and for them to
become healthy and established during the winter.
