Our part-time nanny, Dora, might be what you are
looking for. She works for us Tuesdays and Fridays and
is looking for work for the other days. Here is the

There is no district-wide policy regarding twin
placement. Keeping twins together or separate is a
decision specific to the school which is usually set by
the principal. The principal at our school let us make
the decision and advised us to speak to our preschool
teachers if we were not sure which way to go. At
another school, twins are automatically kept together
to ensure parent involvement while at another, twins
were automatically separated, not sure what the stated
rationale was. Not sure what happens at Alvarado's
specific policy is but worth speaking to the principal
about this issue and what you can expect. We, like
Florence, split up the kids due to one being so
dominant. They still have lots of time to play together
during recess and in their after-school program. The
pluses: they have separate identities, cannot directly
compare their scholastic performance, have more
opportunities to explore friendships with kids of
different personalities than they would otherwise have
chosen as a unit. The hard parts: volunteering in the
classrooms in the earlier grades means that I run from
one class to the next (volunteering in the classroom is
generally less intense as the kids get older so it's
not the same as having two different aged kids but will
also be much easier as they are older), there are
special events when you may not be able to
attend/volunteer for both classes as they are
concurrent, you have A LOT more birthday parties to
attend (another thing that will lessen as most parties
get smaller as kids get older). We have always known
that we wanted to separate our twins so feel lucky that
we could. My more dominant dtr was sad for a week but
her sister was really excited to have a different class
from the start. They both like having different
classrooms now. I think if there is any sadness come
next fall, it will have more to do with whether or not
they are in the same classes with their "school best
friends" or not.Good luck in Alvarado.Helen (Annika and
 Sofie)
