Dew Tour City Championships Coming to SF October 11-13

DEW Tour-Extreme Skateboard and BMX event held in SF downtown's Civic Center Plaza

We need your help with this awesome event, volunteers are needed to help usher, 
line control, support tour staff and be a part of this great nationwide event. Volunteers
will receive a t-shirt, lanyard credential and also be put into a raffle drawing
 for prizes and giveaways that include a shot at winning a signed skate deck of 
some of the famous skaters from the tour! Volunteer 3 hour shifts; start times range

Scaregrove on October 25

Join Rec & Park for our annual Halloween celebration! Friday, October 25, bring 
your favorite ghouls and goblins to Stern Grove on 19th Avenue and Sloat. $8 entrance
fee, children 2 and under are FREE.

Want to volunteer? Help to support this fun community event. Arts and crafts, face
painting, ride/line control, haunted house and join in with your festive spirit!
 Volunteer 3 hour shifts, start times range from 2pm-6pm, Friday October 25th Stern
Grove on 19th Avenue and Sloat. Volunteers will receive snacks and have access to

Mobile Rec at Hamilton Rec Center on October 12

Come out and play on the Recreation and Parks Department's Mobile Rec gear! No need
to travel far, all through the school year the equipment rotate through parks or
 recreation centers all over San Francisco on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm. You will
be able to learn techniques and test your skills on the Department's 30-foot rock
climbing wall or get skateboarding and biking tips and learn tricks from RecPark
 Staff! Get ready to ride the ramps, rails and manual pads on our BMX bikes and 
skateboards. RPD staff will be on hand to teach beginner's the basics of kick-turns,
fakies, and dropping in.

This Saturday, October 12, Mobile Rec will be at Hamilton Rec Center, 1900 Geary
 Blvd.

2013 San Francisco Anti-Bullying and Harassment Video Contest

Theme: Cyberbullying: Eliminating Cyberbullying with Positive Responses

About the Contest:
To recognize Anti-Bullying Awareness Month, the Women's Steering Committee of the
San Francisco District Attorney's office announces our second video contest for 
students to address cyberbullying and harassment. The purpose of the contest is 
to encourage youth to discuss cyberbullying more openly and develop positive responses
to cyberbullying.
The competition submission period runs from October 3, 2013 to November 8, 2013 
at 11:59 p.m. A panel of initial judges will evaluate the videos based on criteria
listed below and will then submit the top choices to the Executive Committee, who
has ultimate discretion in determining the winners based on the selection criteria
below.

American Craft Week at Sharon Art Studio on October 13

The Sharon Art Studio will celebrate American Craft Week on Sunday, October 13th
 from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

In its fourth year, the annual outdoor, free public event features a variety of 
craft media with live demonstrations by artisans throughout the day. Sponsored in
part with the generous support of the Clay and Glass Arts Foundation, this one-day
event includes an all-day Family Clay Workshop with Studio instructors, plus demos
in ceramics, demos in the art of the doll, and jewelry arts.

2nd Annual 20th Avenue Soap Box Derby on October 27

The Friends of Larsen Playground Second Annual Soap Box Derby will be Sunday, October
27 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on 20th Avenue between Wawona and Vicente Streets.

This is an "open" derby, but all cars must have brakes. No charge to enter, but 
donations GREATLY appreciated. Help bring a jet back to Larsen Park!
