We are in the market for a new double stroller and
wanted to get the groups take on this particular model?
We tried it out at Babies R Us and it looked good for
the price of $189. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I delivered at Kaiser roughly 2.5 years ago. I had pre
eclampsia and one of the babies was IUGR, so we did a C
section at 33 weeks. The whole thing was stressful for
me, because it all happened kind of suddenly and up
until then the pregnancy had been surprisingly easy.
But the staff at Kaiser was great. The NICU nurses and
doctors were amazing. The doctors are nurses for me
were also pretty great. There was one perinatologist
 who I didn't love - I just didn't like his attitude or
approach towards us. (Incidentally, he did my CVS
months earlier, and I didn't have any problem with him
then; it was just in the high stress situation that I
didn't like him.) But we asked to speak with another
perinatologist, and the next one was much better. My C
section went really smoothly, and recovery was quick.
The surgeon even came to admire her own work - she
examined the incision and said something like "that's a
really small incision - I did a pretty great job on
that." =)Friends who had their baby at Kaiser about a
year before we did commented that the staff all looked
like the cast of some TV show - all young and
attractive. I wouldn't have noticed without someone
pointing it out - as I said, I was a little stressed
out - but once they mentioned it I realized it was kind
of true. =) I will second dalehill above and say that
the food was mediocre. It might have improved since
then, but I recall that after I had been in the
hospital for a few days, complaining about the food,
someone thought to bring me the "alternative" menu,
which had some more interesting choices that were a
little more edible. (I was in the hospital for almost 2
weeks, so I ate plenty of it.) But definitely good to
just have friends bring you stuff you know you like. I
had regular lactation appointments for weeks after the
babies came home. The LCs were all awesome - loving,
low stress, supportive, etc. I never had to pay for any
of those visits. (But all of the costs depend on your
particular Kaiser plan. It's all HMO, but different
plans offer different coverages. I paid $2,000 for my C
section. No idea what vaginal delivery would have cost.
I did have friends who only paid their co-pay ($20 or
so) and that's all they spent. (I have sort of a low
end plan.)Oh, and in regards to a comment above, Kaiser
doesn't have a well nursery. If your baby is healthy,
he/she/they are all yours! (My babies were in the NICU,
but I asked.)Oh, and we loved our pediatrician, but she
just retired, so I don't know who to recommend. I guess
I'm looking for someone, too!Good luck! Hope you have a
 wonderful experience!

I delivered in Kaiser SF in June 2013. Both my babies
were head down. My gynecologist told me that I would
have to have epidural and the delivery would be done in
operating room since it was twins. My water broke in
35w 5d. When I came to the hospital the nurse told me
to ask for anesthesia once I would feel like I needed
it. When I eventually felt like I couldn't handle the
pain anymore the nurse checked the cervix and found out
it was fully dilated. A few minutes after I felt that
I'm pushing so they took me to the operating room.
Meanwhile they tried to convince me to agree with
epidural. I didn't really felt like there is any time
for application and I didn't wont it anymore but they
insisted. Eventually I said yes, but when they tried to
lift me up to put it in the spine the doctor said the
baby was crowning. I ended up to deliver each baby with
one push, 6 minutes apart, without any medication at
all. Well, except for the antibiotics. I didn't have
the test for the vaginal streptococcus so they told me
they have to give me the antibiotics in case I had
it.So my delivery experience was quite good, but I
think such quick delivery isn't very common. The stay in
the hospital was good, except for some confusions. We
didn't really know when we would be discharged, nobody
told us. The lactation consultant come right after
delivery and then we didn't see any for two days. I'm
quite sorry for that because the breastfeeding is the
most difficult part, I think. I strongly recommend to
plan to go to lactation center. For two months I was
there once a week and it helped me and my babies
immensely. I recommend the consultants Kimberly and
Evelyn.Nice thing in the hospital was that we got the
celebratory dinner on the delivery evening that
included two champagne glass with word's It's A Girl
and It's A Boy (I have girl and boy) and we could keep
the glasses. Also I got one diaper bag, hand breast
pump and bathrobe. When we were leaving the hospital
the nurse gave us a box of diapers pro preemies (we
didn't have any of this size at home), some dry
tissues, nasal bulb syringe, the samples of lanolin for
nipples, box of Similac formula and I don't remember
what else. In my room there was a breast pump Ameda
Platinum for me since the delivery, I was supposed to
pump every three or four hours. When I left I could
keep the parts. The lactation center provided breast
pump for me for free. Unfortunately it was Medela
Lactina, which is not as good. If you can, I recommend
invest and rent Medela Symphony. It is much better,
more efficient and much more comfortable. We paid $250
for my stay in the hospital. My babies didn't go to
NICU so we didn't pay anything for them. If they would
be in the NICU we would have to pay $500 for them, $250
 for each.

I delivered our twins in October and had a great
experience. It was a little scary initially because my
labor came on incredibly fast...I was unable to talk
and had almost no rest between contractions within 10
minutes of waking up in the middle of the night. When
I called in, Kaiser had no beds. After they called
around, we found out there were no beds at any other
hospitals either (except General)! Kaiser called in
relief staff and within an hour our babies were born.
Dr. Reagenstein delivered our babies which was great
because Baby A was vertex and Baby B was breech.
Apparently, many docs will not do breech extractions.
This is my third delivery at Kaiser. I have been
impressed with their staff each time. Great docs,
great nurses. If you are hoping to breastfeed, I would
talk with a lactation consultant ahead of time, and
shortly after delivery. I am breastfeeding now and
it's much easier now that they are 4 months old, but I
have to say, it was really hard initially and having as
much support as possible helps. The only negative would
be the food, as another person already mentioned. I
would come prepared with some snacks and plan on
ordering in!For a pediatrician, we use Dr. Woo. We
switched to him after the twins were born. We were
hoping to go to Angela Wong since she has twins, but
decided not to because she only works three days/week.
So far, we have loved Dr. Woo. Good luck to you!
