So, we also have 7 months old babies, girl and boy.
They don't have any firm schedule at all. Last two
weeks we tried to put them on some schedule but it
doesn't work as well as I hoped. We struggle with
sleeping though. Anyway, this is how it looked on
Wednesday:7am wake7.30 6 oz of formula8am put in the
bed for nap8.15 girl sleeps 30 minutes, boy travels
around the crib9am out of the bed, play in corral10am
solids (banana) + 1-2oz formula on top11.30 to the
crib, girl sleeps 30 minutes, boy sleeps 1.5 hours1pm
6oz of formula1-3pm play in corral or outing3pm to the
crib, girl sleeps 30 minutes, boy travels around
crib4-5 play in corral5pm boy sleeps 30 hour in the
crib, girls spends time with us in kitchen5.30pm solid
(zucchini) for both6pm bath, to the crib, lullaby,
sleep10pm dream feed for the boy, 2-4 oz2am dream feed
for the boy 2-4 ozI don't recall our pediatrician to
give us any advices. So far it seems to me that
whatever I do with the babies, it's ok until they gain
weigh and are healthy. I don't think you can overfeed
the babies with fresh veggies more than you would with
milk.Do you have the Super Baby Food book? It's great
in case you make home made baby food. The author
describes the approximate amount of food babies are
supposed to eat in every month. She suggests the
following feeding schedule for 7 months
(http://www.superbabyfood.com/chapters/Super-Baby-Food_Feeding-at-7-Months.pdf)Upon
Awakening: breast/bottle Breakfast: two or three food
servings and breast/bottle Lunch: two or three food
servings and breast/bottle Supper: two or three food
servings and breast/bottle Bedtime: breast or bottle of
cooled boiled water Plus water after and between meals.
Offer 4 ounces of diluted fruit juice once a dayThe
serving is 1 to 4 Tablespoons. Depends on the baby how
much he eats. She also says: "Breast milk or formula is
still the main food for your baby. Your baby should
breast-feed 5 times a day or drink 30-32 ounces of
formula a day. If your baby is not drinking this much,
decrease the amount of solid foods."When I looked for
information about sleeping I have read that the 6-7
months baby should eat at least 24 oz of milk/formula a
day. If he eats less the solids should be decreased.
From your schedule it seem like your babies get about
24 oz, which is ok.I feed them until they continue
eating. As for getting them to start moving towards
breakfast lunch and dinner as set meals and avoid
snacking habits, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you
mean to drop the milk feeding completely? They are
going to eat solids and milk till they are about one
year old. I think snacking is ok if the snacks are
healthy and if it's not overdone. It is said it's good
even for adults to eat every 3 hours :) So to me it is
ok to have sometnig like following schedule:7am
breakfast9.30am snack12pm lunch3pm snack6pm dinner

My kids are older now, and I don't remember all the
specifics of our schedule, but I do recall struggling
with when to feed solids in relation to milk/formula. I
went to a class at Kaiser on introducing solids, and
read parts of Child of Mine, by Ellyn Satter (sp?),
which the nutritionist who led the class said was
probably the best book on baby feeding out there.Based
on the class and my reading, we tried to offer solids
30-60 minutes after bottles. The goal is basically to
make sure they're not actually hungry, because then
they'll be fussy and not in the mood to experiment with
new foods and new feeding techniques, but also you
don't want them to be full, because then they really
won't want to put anything in their mouths. So 30-60
minutes was a good time frame for when they were open
to trying something new, and not fussy or overfull. The
downside to this schedule is that they were either
sleeping or eating SO MUCH OF THE TIME, so it was
really hard to fit in outings. We started with one
solids session (lunch, sort of) around 6 months, then
added another one (breakfast), and finally added dinner
around 9 months. I think our schedule was roughly:7am
wake up, then bottle right away8am solids
breakfast9:30-11 nap, then bottle right away11:30 or 12
solids lunch1:30-3:30 nap, then bottle right away4-6
outing, until we started doing dinner at 5 or
soFinally, A bottle right before bed, around 6:30 or
7.And my pediatrician has never offered specific advice
as to raising the kids, like offering advise on
sleeping, schedule, etc. We like her, but she mostly
just advises us on specific health and illness issues.
I mostly spoke with other moms, read books, took
classes, etc. I know that some people do get feedback
about stuff like that from their pediatricians, so if
that's important to you, you could look for someone
else. Good luck! Before you know it they'll be eating
tons of solids and demanding bunny crackers and pasta!
