Dear Friends,

On  behalf of the entire San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, I  want to
wish you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving. Our  department has much to be
thankful for, and we are especially blessed  to steward some of the most beautiful
and unique park spaces you will  find anywhere. Thank you for using and loving your
parks.

I  also want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the  hardworking
men and women of the San Francisco Recreation and Park  Department with whom I work
side by side every day. Their dedication  to tirelessly care for and improve our
 treasured open space and  recreation facilities is the reason we are one of the
 best urban park  systems in the country.

Of  course we do not do it alone. Our fellow San Franciscan's voted to  support 
parks bonds in recent years, and contributed more than 180,000  hours in volunteer
service to our system.  Our fellow city departments,  state and federal agencies,
community partners, local businesses,  philanthropic foundations and individuals,
have helped us to make much  needed renovations to our facilities and to provide
 more than $1 million  in scholarships.  Mayor Ed Lee, the Board of Supervisors,
 and the San  Francisco Recreation and Park Commission all champion policies and
  marshal the resources that help make our parks so great.  We thank all  of them
this Thanksgiving.
