1. In home-lactation consultant / 5 week growth spurt

Our boys are 5 1/2 weeks old and in a growth spurt (so
we think as they are feeding every 2 hours for nearly
-on/off- 50 minutes). We are exclusively breast
feeding and are now desperate for some expert insight
and advice. Does anyone have a lactation consultant
recommendation, or have been in this situation before?
Any tips, or light at the end of this would be
appreciated!!Thank you,Robin

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that what you are
experiencing is totally and completely normal! There
were times when I was breastfeeding 4 hours out of 6,
as mine were also long-on-the-breast feeders. You can
expect this to ease up some in about a week or so. In
the meantime, make the most of your breaks: use the
toilet, do some stretching, and grab your food, water,
and entertainment for the next round!

I hoped my first post as Club President would be more
festive. I am very sorry to report heartbreaking news
that one of our recent members lost her 5-day-old son.I
have contacted her and inquired if the Club can do
anything to help. If you would like to be part of
donation, food delivery, or if you have your own
suggestion how we can help, please contact me at
president at sfpom.org. Our thoughts go out to her and her
family in this difficult time.Sincerely,Petr Olmer

Congrats on your twins! I have identical boys who are
almost 2.5 years old. For the first week or so we left
their hospital tags (with names on), and then for the
first year or so one of my sons had a little hair tie
around his ankle. It stayed on all the time, baths,
etc. it was something you could feel through socks and
swaddles. Our best trick though was that one of them
always wears something blue and the other one doesn't.
We actually still stick to that now even though we can
tell them apart easily. It makes it easy for everyone
else to know who is who and so they will get called by
their names. It's also been great for pictures, the
tricks you have for telling them apart at 6 months may
be different than the way you know at a year. Let me
know if you have any other questions - good luck!!

Just a quick follow up on this... we were able to take
advantage of her offer, and are thrilled with the
results. Our girls were super comfortable with her,
and she got lovely candid, natural, relaxed shots. I
would totally recommend her work!(Unfortunately the
complimentary shoot is no longer available - but if
you're ever looking for a great local photographer...)
