While Zoo Lights will go dark December 24 - 25, it will be open again on December 26. Members receive $1 off the price of a Zoo Lights General Admission ticket...and don't miss the second Members Free Night to Zoo Lights on January 2!  Don't miss your chance to experience the magic of the Zoo under twinkling lights!

Catch the Reindeer Before They Go!

Make sure you stop by to see our four favorite reindeer, Belle, Holly, Peppermint, and Velvet.  Until January 2, these majestic animals will be on display at the Zoo to teach us all about how and where they live in the wild.  Pick up a hot chocolate at Cafe Playfield, and head on over to the historic Playfield Lawn, right next to the spectacular Elinor Friend Playground to see the reindeer!

Lions Now Protected Under Endangered Species Act

This week, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service designated the African lion as endangered.  Placing lions under the protection of the Endangered Species Act will generally prohibit the import of trophies in the United States.  Lion populations have decreased approximately 43% over the past 21 years, so this extended protection is an important step in the conservation and recovery of lion populations. Come and see the newest member of our very own African lion pride here at the Zoo.  Our male lion cub, pictured above, was born on August 30!
