 Hi, I'm Spanish and lived in BCN for a short period of
 time. I am not sure about the city itself for kids but
 taking into account that the summer can be hot and
 sticky you may want to consider split one week in the
 city (which I honestly think is more than enought) and
 some beach time. Head North to la Cost Brava in
 Gerona/Girona province and stay in one of the beautiful
 small side towns. If you decide to do this look for a
 place north Palamós: Palafrugel, Llanfranc,
 Tamariú, Fornells, Begur... all of them nice,
 South Palamós the town are more built and crowded.
 Rent a car so can visit different beahes and maybe
 Girona itself with a well preserved ols medieval center
 as well as the Roman ruins in Empuries or even Figueres
 where the crazy Dalí Museum-Theater is...
