Meet Spider-Man This Weekend
(https://t.e2ma.net/click/obili/o330mu/0wa3rc)
Rain or shine, Spider-Man will be at the San Francisco Zoo on Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13! Enjoy this special event inside two indoor locations, the Pachyderm Building and the Insect Zoo. Have your camera ready to take a selfie with Spidey in the Pachyderm Building, home of the Rockin’ Ropes Adventure, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Spider-Man will be greeting guests and posing for pictures with his biggest fans. Stop by the Insect Zoo for special keeper talks at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm because although Spider-Man is a crowd pleaser, spiders themselves are not always beloved by humans. Zoo staff will be talking about the misunderstood arachnid to help commemorate National Save a Spider Day, Monday, March 14. While you’re there, climb the gigantic spider web made out of rope!

Spring Hours Begin Saturday
Beginning Saturday, March 12, visitors have an extra hour to enjoy the Zoo! During spring and summer months, the Zoo opens at 10:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. Don't forget to spring forward and set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, March 13!
All Students are FREE on Pi Day
The Zoo is teaming up with the San Francisco Giants to celebrate Pi Day with FREE admission for all students on Monday, March 14 (3/14). Pi Day is observed around the world with different antics, usually involving pie, and we’re honoring the “irrational number” with special pie-shaped enrichment for several different animals while highlighting the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educational programs offered at the Zoo. Students only need a valid ID card to receive FREE admission.
Spring Bird Watching Returns
Spring bird watching at the Zoo is back! Bring your binoculars and join master birder Allan Ridley for a morning walk or two during the spring season. Walks are scheduled for March 17, March 31 and April 7 from 8:30–10:00 am. Please meet at the Zoo’s main entrance at 8:30 am. There is no charge for the walk and parking is free until 10:30 am.

Yellowstone Grizzly Bear May Lose Threatened Status
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently proposed removing grizzly bears in the greater Yellowstone Ecosystem from the Federal Lists of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife. Studies suggest the grizzly bear population has grown from 136 in 1975 to an estimated 700 in 2016. The news is controversial because delisting the bears means they'd be subject to hunting in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, outside of Yellowstone National Park. Still, 30 years of grizzly bear conservation stands as one of the most successful projects to date. Click here (https://t.e2ma.net/click/obili/o330mu/s2d3rc) to read more.
