Scaregrove, our annual family-friendly Halloween event at Sigmund Stern Grove, happens

Greenagers and Volunteers celebrate National Public Lands Day!
National Public Lands Day was celebrated this past Saturday, September 24th at Gilman
Playground and the Ignacio Street Garden Corridor, where our Class of 2017 Greenagers,
longtime residents and neighborhood group participated in a historical hike led 
by Shirley Moore. In addition, volunteers weeded and mulched an overgrown area under
the direction of our Bayview operations staff. It was a wonderful way to celebrate
our parks and next leaders in park stewardship! Thank you for all of your hard work!

City Celebrates Open Gardens Day
What a beautiful and fun filled day on September 24, as we celebrated our 38 community
gardens, including the Golden Gate Park CommUNITY Garden, pictured above. Several
volunteers and community members came out to participate at gardens all across the
city. In Golden Gate Park, the garden was visited by guests throughout the day including
a bike tour that was visiting all of our community gardens citywide. The Master 
Food Preservers' Preserving the Season's Harvest lecture and demonstration was a
 huge hit as were the activities from Planet Bee, where four lucky adults suited
 up as beekeepers!

Francisco had a record-breaking 95 schools and 14,000+ students participate in this,
citywide event. In 2015, 88% of San Francisco Unified public elementary schools 
took part, an increase of 11% in numbers over the prior year's Walk & Roll to School.

This year, to help mark the 20th anniversary, bring Walk & Roll to School Day to
 a record-breaking 100 schools and 16,000 students across the city!

The Wild Bunch: Succulents, Cacti and Fat Plants
At the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park through October 16
This summer, the Conservatory of Flowers gets rough and tumble as it continues to
celebrate some of the more ornery gangs of the plant world in a new exhibition. 
Set amongst the rusty remnants of an old ghost town, The Wild Bunch, on view through
October 16, explores the strange and dramatic world of water hoarding plants, bristling
with living examples of cacti, fat plants (also known as caudiciforms) and other
 succulents. These fleshy, and often thorny, plants are distinguished for their 
ability to survive the most extreme, arid conditions, and their swollen stems and
leaves come in a stunning variety of weird shapes and unexpected colors. Click here

Victorian Alliance of San Francisco's 44th Annual House Tour on October 16
