Beat the Heat at SF Zoo!
Beat the heat this Labor Day Weekend at one of the only zoos on a coastline! Don't let summer end before going on an adventure at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens! Cub Cuteness!

We bear-ly can contain our excitement over our two rescued black bear cubs.  They aren’t just merely surviving here, but they are thriving! Already, our male weighs 90 pounds and our female 40 pounds!  Make sure you come see these cuties before they are all grown up!
Cub Update: As the cubs adjust to their new home, they tend to be on exhibit from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm daily.

Tarantula Exhibit Extended Through Halloween!
They’re big. They’re hairy. But are they scary? Find out why the largest spiders in the world are simply misunderstood gentle giants. You may even learn to love them! Our Tarantula special exhibit (http://sfzoo.us12.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=478b1ae5f3&e=7683a9aed3) will be here through Halloween to take visitors on a journey of scientific discovery and present these marvelous, eight-legged beasts in a new light!

We are shining a light on the tragedy of illegal wildlife trade with our latest exhibit, Red Ivory. Using layered, enhanced video and composed audio, the piece takes viewers through several scenes depicting elephants in the past, present and future, including repercussions of current poaching practices – a world without elephants.

The Zoo was saddened to learn that Dr. Wayne Lotter, cofounder and director of PAMS foundation, was recently killed after receiving numerous death threats throughout his tenure at PAMS, which focuses on antipoaching efforts in Africa. Dr. Lotter’s tragic death reminds us all of how critically important it is to stop the illegal ivory trade, and to that end, we will extend the playing of Red Ivory through the Fall

Members in good standing are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the San Francisco Zoological Society in the Bernard Osher Great Hall of the Lurie Education Center, September 19, 2017 at 2 pm. The main item of business is the election of officers & directors. To the extent they exist, any proposed amendment(s) to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws may be discussed. Are you 65-years-old or older? Enjoy a guided walking tour with almost the whole Zoo to yourself on September 14 from 9-11. Watch the animals that are active early in the day, with a docent guide to answer your questions and offer fascinating insights into animal behavior.
