Come and Meet Our New Snow Leopards!
To improve the genetic diversity of snow leopards — as well as improve their overall numbers — we recently received two new snow leopards. The San Francisco Zoological Society is excited to help snow leopards by participating in AZA’s Species Survival Plan’s cooperative breeding program and playing matchmaker for these new arrivals! Please note, when looking for them on exhibit, you will only see either the male or female since they are still getting to know each other.

We are proud to not only help snow leopards here at home but globally as well.  Monitoring and tracking these elusive animals can be difficult in the wild. To assist in this endeavor, we recently entered into a partnership with ConservationFIT (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=ea1fe47554&e=7683a9aed3) to help develop an algorithm derived from SFZS snow leopard tracks to create a noninvasive monitoring technique for wild snow leopards. SF Zoo is proud to help snow leopards here and in the wild!

Children Age 14 and Younger Are FREE
Now Until January 31st!
We wanted to kick off 2018 with something big, that’s why we are excited to celebrate the New Year with a very special gift to the entire Bay Area. From now until January 31, we are pleased to be offering families FREE admission for all children age 14 and younger with adult paid admission. For many children, meeting a giraffe, bear or lion is the highlight of their year and we can’t think of a better way to start 2018 than with a Zoo visit.

There's Still Time to Become a Docent!
If you're looking for something meaningful to do with your time, consider becoming a docent. Attend the Docent Program Informational Event (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=a9e5f17cce&e=7683a9aed3) on Sunday, January 21 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at the Lurie Education Center at SF Zoo & Gardens. Anyone interested should have a love for animals and the ability to share information with others. We'll teach you everything else!

Early Childhood Classes
Welcome winter with your toddler in an Early Childhood class!  Specially designed for children 18 months – 4 years, little ones are encouraged to get loud like lions, leap like lemurs, and frolick like red pandas. Lunar New Year
Save the date! Celebrate Lunar Near Year at SF Zoo on February 24-25! Soak up the ambiance of the occasion and marvel at traditional Chinese lion and folk dance performances and go on a Zodiac Scavenger Hunt through the Zoo to learn fun facts about the animals found on the Chinese calendar. Guests born in the Year of the Dog receive complimentary Zoo admission for the day.
