WORLD GIRAFFE WEEKEND

Please join (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=6d7a686d78&e=7683a9aed3) us as we celebrate our long-necked friends June 23 & 24 and raise public awareness about challenges they face in the wild. To mark the occasion, we’ll have interactive information presented by our Talk on the Wild Side teen volunteers throughout the day in Acacia Plaza, a meet & greet at 4:30 pm in the Bernard Osher Foundation Giraffe Lodge, and we’ll be accepting donations of old jeans for Jeans for Giraffes. Jeans for Giraffes (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=989f7464fa&e=7683a9aed3) is a project that raises funds for giraffe research and protects giraffe populations in Africa. So join us all weekend at the African Savanna to appreciate these majestic beauties and don't forget those jeans!

Want to feed a giraffe? We'll be hosting giraffe feedings starting at 11:00 am on bother Saturday and Sunday! For just $5, you can make a memory that lasts a lifetime. Like all things at the Zoo, our animals come first. Depending on whether or not the giraffes want to feed, this experience may be cancelled or cut short.

BABY MANDRILL BORN MAY 19!

On May 19th, the Zoo welcomed a male mandrill - his father is “Big Joe” and his mother is “Lulu”. “Lulu” had never had offspring and was unsure how to handle the infant, so “Pandora” stepped in and served as his surrogate mother – she’s proven to be an excellent foster mom!

BIKEABOUT - 2ND SATURDAYS
THROUGH OCTOBER!

Looking for a way to get outdoors this summer? Join us on the 2nd Saturday July – October for a Family BikeAbout; they’re sure to be a “wheely” fun time! You’ll have the exclusive opportunity to pedal through the Zoo with a knowledgeable guide before we open for the day. During the ride, you’ll learn all sorts of fun facts, watch animals as they forage for their breakfast, and learn how you can help wildlife at home! SUMMER PROGRAMMING IS HERE!

* Nature Trail Now Open! Stroll along Nature Trail and interact with more than a dozen animals up close! Youth volunteers staff each animal station to deliver fun facts and conservation stories.11:00 am - 3:30 pm daily.
* Wildlife Theatre Shows! Enjoy a variety of ambassador animals from the Koret Animal Resource Center that will engage and educate you and your family about animal adaptations and conservation. Monday - Wednesday: 2:00 pm; Thursday - Sunday: 1:30 pm AND 2:30 pm
* Talk on the Wild Side! Learn from teen volunteers as they utilize biofacts carts at animal exhibits around the Zoo.

CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY LIKE GREG - AND SUPPORT THE ZOO!

We were excited to learn that Greg Endom wanted to celebrate his birthday with his Facebook friends and family by asking for donations for the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens. Instead of gifts, Greg used the Facebook birthday donation feature where he raised over $500 for the Zoo!  He chose us because our mission – Care, Connect, and Conserve – meant a lot to him and by the response, his friends like us too!
