Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with
a Ride on the Historic Little Puffer!

The Little Puffer Miniature Steam Train is turning 115 years old! To celebrate its 115 years, we will be handing out 115 complimentary engineer hats this Saturday - Monday to children 14 and younger in line to ride the train with a paid ticket. This historic train is an integral part of our history and an important part of the Zoo today. It is one of only three remaining 22-inch gauge engines left in the world, so come out and take a ride on the train this weekend!

SCIENCE SATURDAY CONSERVATION LECTURE

Join Conservation International's Alice Ruhweza on June 2 as she presents "Silent No More: How Women & Girls Will Speak for Planet Earth."  Alice will share stories and insights on how women and girls can become stronger leaders and save the planet.  From irreplaceable African elephants, the challenge of addressing wildlife trafficking and poaching, to being a fearless female leader and forging a new path for sustainable development. SF Zoo Participates in World Turtle Day!
May 23rd was World Turtle Day, but at the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens, every day is Turtle Day for us! We are continually working to find creative ways to boost local turtle populations and stop the decline of the only native California freshwater aquatic turtle, the western pond turtle. Our Conservation Team is working firsthand to restore populations of western pond turtles by head-starting and reintroducing them to a restored lake system.
