Celebrate Earth Day This Weekend!

Every day is a reason to celebrate the earth at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens, but a special Earth Day celebration will occur April 20 through April 22 with the topic of climate change taking center stage. On Saturday, April 20, local green vendors will be on hand, and through Earth Day, April 22, stroll around the Zoo to encounter globes of information on how every Zoo visitor can help save the planet, like by planting a pollinator garden or investing in solar panels!

Grab your “bear-y” best friends and meet us at the Zoo for an early morning BikeAbout on Saturday, April 27th at 8:30 am. You’ll have the opportunity to pedal around the Zoo with knowledgeable guides who will teach you fun animal facts and share ideas about how you can help animals in the wild. Wander the Zoo on foot after the tour; admission is included! Pre-registration required, bikes not provided by the SF Zoo. New Animal Ambassadors!

It’s spring, and spring means baby animals! The Koret Animal Resource Center (ARC) welcomed several new animal ambassador faces, including two female baby guinea pigs. At 350 grams, they are each the size of a russet potato! Pictured is one of the guinea pigs undergoing her first veterinary physical exam at the Zoo. These animals were given a clean bill of health. They can soon be spotted in SF Zoo’s youth volunteer programs, like Nature Trail which opens in June!
