Earth Day at the EcoCenter on April 21
Join us for an Earth Day celebration and the EcoCenter's 9th birthday at the Port

SF Rec and Parks Breaks Ground on $27M Tennis Center
Tennis enthusiasts of all ages gathered today with City officials, the Tennis Coalition
of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to celebrate a new era for
public tennis in San Francisco with the groundbreaking of the Golden Gate Park Tennis
Center renovation. The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department's $27 million
project, funded almost entirely through private donations, will transform the 125-year-old
site into one of the best public tennis facilities in the nation and allow the public
more than 20,000 hours of additional playtime each year. It will include 17 new 
USTA-regulation tennis courts, a sunken feature court, and a dedicated pickleball
court. Off the court, players will enjoy a new 7,800 square foot clubhouse with 
a player's lounge, recreation room, locker room and kitchen and a garden area for

Information for 4/20 in Golden Gate Park
On April 20, an estimated 20,000 people will descend on Hippie Hill in Golden Gate
Park to celebrate all things cannabis. The 4/20 tradition, said to date back to

and busses will be provided to the area. For health and safety reasons, we are advising
everyone to buy their cannabis at a licensed dispensary before they come to the 
event. No cannabis sales will be permitted onsite and buying or accepting cannabis
from unlicensed vendors puts you at risk for ingesting contaminated product. Pets
will not be allowed at the event this year, along with glass, alcohol, cooking or
grilling equipment. Lest We Forget Now Open at Civic Center Plaza
Today, German-Italian artist Luigi Toscano unveiled 78 large-scale portraits of 
Holocaust survivors at Civic Center Plaza as part of a compelling arts and remembrance
project entitled Lest We Forget. The installation is presented by the Goethe-Institut
San Francisco with the German Consulate General San Francisco and in partnership
 with us and the San Francisco Arts Commission. The installation will be on display
through May 19. Hayes Valley Playground Resurfacing Meeting
Please join us and the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (KDCF) on Friday, April 26
beginning at 6:30 p.m. to discuss an upcoming project to renovate the basketball
 court at Hayes Valley Playground. The meeting will take place at the Hayes Valley
Playground clubhouse (Hayes and Buchanan streets). KDCF is partnering with the Department
to support the court resurfacing and provide an artistic design on the new basketball
court surface. Representatives from KDCF and the artist will be on hand to present
initial artistic design plans and encourage feedback.

Harvey Milk Photo Center Call for Artists!
In honor of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the Harvey Milk
Photo Center is calling for artist submissions. All art mediums that celebrate the
LGBTQ community are welcome including photography, painting and drawing! In addition,

Bernal Hill Volunteer Day on April 20
Join the Natural Resource Division in restoring the grasslands of Bernal Hill, one
of our City's unique natural areas this Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. We will be
 weeding invasive radish and mustard, helping to maintain the park's native grasslands.
The project site will offer spectacular views of the city on all sides! Volunteers
