Playground Renaming Proposal
Last year, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 175-18 
urging the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission to rename Julius Kahn Playground.
A neighborhood survey and process was completed and a recommendation for the replacement
name was made. Join us on Wednesday, August 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the park's
clubhouse (West Pacific Avenue and Spruce Street), where the recommended replacement
name will be presented with the opportunity for public comment.

Boeddeker Park Town Hall on August 14
Join the Boeddeker Park Advisory Committee at the Boeddeker Park Clubhouse (246 
Eddy Street) on Wednesday, August 14 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for its town hall meeting.

Herz Playground Meeting on August 17
We will be holding the second meeting for the Herz Playground renovation project

Harvey Milk Photo Center Exhibits this August!
We have a couple of new exhibits from the Harvey Milk Photo Center coming to our
 parks this month! The first is Lawrence Felinghetti's When We Arrived in Normandy,

poet and activist, is a 100-year-old World War II veteran who fought in Normandy
 on D-Day. His exhibit features his war photos, which have never been shown to the
public.
The second exhibit is by Jimi Crowley, a native San Franciscan artist who has worked
for 40 years as a photographer/videographer/producer. His exhibit, From the Light

McLaren Park Volunteer Day on August 10
Join us for a recurring habitat restoration volunteer project in John McLaren Park

Join San Francisco City Guides for its historical tours of Golden Gate Park this

SF City Open on Labor Day Weekend
With the current renovation of the Golden Gate Park Tennis Complex, the 118th Annual
San Francisco City Open and National Tennis Rating Program championships will be

 that marked the reopening of the Hayes Valley Playground sport courts! The highlight
of the renovation is a unique basketball court that doubles as colorful street art.
Improvements to the basketball court, including the colorful court mural by San 
Francisco street artist Apexer, resurfacing, and new hoops and backboards, were 
funded with a $99,500 grant from the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (KDCF) through
its Build it and They Will Ball initiative, with support from Airbnb co-founder 
Joe Gebbia.
