Highlights of the makeover include a new community room for events, a pool divider
that allows for increased programming with flexibility for recreational and lap 
swim, and a new mural featuring people and animals making a splash. The 2012 Clean
and Safe Parks Bond provided over $9 million in funding for the project. Thank you

Urban Ag Program Featured in SF Examiner
This past week, our Urban Agriculture Program was featured in the San Francisco 
Examiner! The article put the spotlight on our 42 community gardens, with highlights
from the past year including over $400,000 invested in garden repairs and 23,000

India Basin Receives $5 Million in Funding
A plan to rehabilitate a long-vacant bayside lot in San Francisco's India Basin 
and turn it into a waterfront park took a step forward with the allocation of a 
$5 million grant toward tidal restoration and site cleanup. Last week, the San Francisco
Bay Restoration Authority approved the funds for us to remediate and restore the
 soft-bottom intertidal and subtidal habitat and remove dilapidated structures at

Formerly named for the Oak Woodlands, the newly renovated trail in Golden Gate Park
was dedicated in honor of Phil Arnold, a longtime advocate for parks, open space
 and recreational trail opportunities in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area!

North Beach Pool Closed from March 4 to 9
We will be installing two new boilers at the North Beach Pool beginning next Monday,
March 4. We expect the pool to be closed through the work week with the pool set

highlights the addition of 10 new custom sport wheelchairs at Gene Friend Recreation
Center, part of our focus on adaptive sports. The video shows members of the Golden
State Road Warriors and the Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) trying
out the new wheelchairs! The $40,000 purchase of the 10 wheelchairs were paid for
as part of a $105,000 grant from the nonprofit San Franciscans for Sports and Recreation
(SFFSR) to the Gene Friend Recreation Center. The chairs will be free for members
of the public with disabilities, and available for checkout anytime the center is
open for adult recreation.
