Martin Luther King Day Celebration at MLK Pool on January 19
Join us for Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations at the MLK Pool (5701 3rd Street)
this Saturday, January 19. The event begins with a community march from the Bayview
Opera House at 9 a.m. Festivities will beginat 11 a.m. at the MLK Pool and will 
feature live entertainment, free swimming, free lunch and more! We look forward

MLK Day of Service Opportunities with Rec and Park!
Looking to give back to the community in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
this weekend? Join us and Habitat for Humanity at Bayview Playground/MLK Pool on
 Saturday, January 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. Honor Dr. King's work with a day of community
service alongside other community partners. Volunteer tasks include weeding, pruning,
raking, applying mulch, planting, and general park maintenance.
In addition, join the SF Urban Agriculture program to help us support and beautify
our lovely community gardens. Work will include weeding, light mulching, and more!

Public Budget Meetings on January 30 and February 4
Join us for one of two budget meetings to discuss preliminary plans for fiscal years

Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds Closures
The Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds will be closed this Saturday, January 
19 during the Women's March that will be occurring in Civic Center Plaza. The playground
will also be closed the following Saturday, January 26 during the March for Life.
The closures are to preserve the integrity of the playground during these large 
scale, adult-oriented events. The playgrounds will reopen at the end of each event.

ASL Explorations at Mission Inclusion Center
Have you always wanted to learn American Sign Language (ASL)? Well join us for the
ASL Explorations class at the Mission Inclusion Center (3555 19th Street) every

McLaren Community Garden Volunteer Days
We are nearing the end of construction for the McLaren Community Garden and are 
on track to finish up this spring! If you are interested in getting involved with
this project, volunteer to help us finish up the final work! We have volunteer works
days at the garden coming up including this Friday, January 18 from 10 a.m. to noon!

Greenager Graduation at the Lake Merced Boathouse on January 26!
Join us for the graduation of our 2018 Greenagers class as we celebrate their accomplishments
in the community over the past year! The program offers teens from San Francisco
 a chance to play an important role in the community by improving our city's green
spaces and raising awareness. The event takes place on Saturday, January 26 from
 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Merced Boathouse (1 Harding Road). The ceremony

Photography + Art Exhibit Opening Reception

Winter Fruit Tree Pruning at Alemany Farm
Swing by Alemany Farm on Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. to noon for the Winter
Fruit Tree Pruning workshop with instructors Jason Mark and Hannah Shulman. Learn

Job Fairs in January!
The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, along with other government agencies
and community organizations, will host a series of three Saturday job fairs this
 month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m! The final one will be next Saturday, January 26 at
 the County Fair Building (1199 9th Avenue) in Golden Gate Park. Job training resources

SF City Cats Close Out Home Schedule
Join the San Francisco City Cats at Kezar Pavillion (755 Stanyan Street) as they
