at the San Francisco Botanical Garden is here for its fifth year, running through
July 22. One of its feature events, Flower Piano at Night, begins tomorrow, July
 18 through July 20 beginning at 8 p.m. Beautifully lit pathways guide you to pianos

Street Soccer Installation at Civic Center Plaza Through August
Rec and Park, Street Soccer USA and other city partners are proud to bring a two-month
soccer activation to Civic Center! Two turf fields located between the Asian Art
 Museum and San Francisco Public Library will be open until the end of August for

In Chan Kaajal Community Garden Wins Livability Award!
In Chan Kaajal Community Garden is cultivating more than carrots and corn for the
Mission District. During Sunday Streets San Francisco this past weekend, the community
garden located on 17th and Folsom received the Livability Award for its role in 
creating a cohesive neighborhood hub for one of the most diverse cross-sections 
of the city! Presented by Livable City, the Livability Awards honor individuals 
and institutions who have made an outstanding contribution to San Francisco's livability,
with a focus on land use, environment, public health, and social equity. For more

Coit Tower Café to Open at Iconic Landmark
Sightseers are now able to take in a panini or cannoli alongside Coit Tower's breathtaking
view! Coit Tower Café, located in a kiosk steps away from the San Francisco skyline's
210-foot welcoming beacon, opened today, July 12. Operated by Acquolina Restaurant
in North Beach, Coit Tower Café will also feature hot and cold drinks, pastries,
 pizza by the slice and frozen yogurt. Visitors to Coit Tower can also refill their
water bottles at the café, which will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Read

Five Sport Courts Renovated in the Southeast
This past month, we finished court resurfacing projects at Yosemite Marsh, Selby
 and Palou Mini Park, Palou and Phelps Mini Park, Gilman Playground and Adam Rodgers
Park. They now sport freshly resurfaced and painted courts, along with new sports
equipment! We celebrated this milestone by playing games of "knock-out" at Adam 
Rogers Park, where District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton dropped by to shoot hoops!

courts soon!

Chase Return the Serve Fun Day
Last week, Chase Bank, through the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Foundation
donated $15,000 in support of our Tennis and Learning Center Program (TLC). We celebrated
this donation at Dolores Park with the Return the Serve Fun Day, where our TLC students
and summer campers came to play tennis, do arts and crafts and dance! Thank you 
Chase, USTA Foundation and USTA Norcal for supporting tennis in San Francisco!

Bernal Heights Soccer Pitch Meeting on July 19
Please join us and the U.S. Soccer Foundation this Friday, July 19 to discuss an
 upcoming project to install a soccer mini-pitch at Bernal Heights Recreation Center.
The meeting will take place on Friday, July 19 from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at the Bernal

V-O-Cal Trail Building in McLaren Park from August 16 to 18
Join us and V-O-Cal (Volunteers for Outdoor California) for the weekend of August
16-18 to build and restore trails in McLaren Park. This unique experience allows

Glen Canyon Volunteer Day on July 20
Join the Friends of Glen Canyon Park (70 Elk Street) and the Natural Resource Division
on Saturday, July 20 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for a monthly volunteer day! Help to preserve
diverse habitats in this naturally occurring canyon, where you will learn from our
staff naturalists about the ecology of Islais Creek and its riparian woodland, scrub

Model Yacht Sailing Lessons on July 21
Join the San Francisco Model Yacht Club for FREE introductory sailing lessons for
youth this Sunday, July 21 between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spreckels Lake (36th Avenue
and JFK Drive) in Golden Gate Park. Each child will have about 20 minutes of individual
sailing time and it will be a great opportunity for youth and parents to learn how
to sail a boat!
