Battle for the Bay on September 21
In celebration of Coastal Cleanup Day this Saturday, September 21, San Francisco
 and Oakland are challenging each other in a Battle for the Bay, where we'll see

Play Day at West Portal Playground on September 21
Join us this Saturday, September 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. to celebrate the beginning 
of construction at West Portal Playground (Ulloa and Lenox streets.) This project
is a part of the Let'sPlaySF! campaign, a partnership between SF Rec and Parks and

Kaiser Permanente Contributes $1.6 Million to Provide Safe and Imaginative Playgrounds
San Francisco's playgrounds are getting a major boost thanks to a $1.6 million contribution
by Kaiser Permanente to the LetsPlaySF! campaign, the San Francisco Recreation and
Park Department announced on Monday. The LetsPlaySF! campaign, a partnership between
SF Rec and Parks and the San Francisco Parks Alliance, promises to transform 13 
timeworn play areas used by 20,000 children in neighborhoods across the city. Kaiser
Permanente's contribution represents one of the largest commitments to LetsPlaySF!
The next playground under this campaign to begin construction will be West Portal

Steph Curry Hosts Tournament at Harding Park
On Monday, we helped host the first ever Stephen Curry Charity Classic golf tournament
at TPC Harding Park. The event benefitted the PGA Reach and Steph and Ayesha Curry's
new Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation. Thanks to everyone who came out to support these

Rec and Park Softball Team Honored by Mayor
Tuesday, Mayor London Breed presented the championship trophy to our Rec and Park
softball team for the San Francisco Foster Youth Fund's 30th annual Mae Louise Mays
Softball Tournament. Named for the late wife of San Francisco Giants' great Willie
Mays, Mae Louise Mays was a long time social worker for the San Francisco Human 
Services Agency. The tournament in her name features city agencies and local non-profits
playing in support of San Francisco foster youth and our scholarship program. For

Court Reservation Meeting September 18
We invite you to join us for a public meeting to discuss the free online reservation
system implemented in April 2019 for tennis and pickleball play at 11 complexes

Shakespeare in the Park on September 19

HPHP at McLaren Park on September 21

Mid-Autumn Harvest Fest September 21
The Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival returns to Tenderloin Recreation Center (570 Ellis
Street) this Saturday, September 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This FREE annual event

Lawn Bowling Nationals on September 24
The top men and women bowlers in the country will compete at the 2019 Lawn Bowling
National Championships, hosted by the San Francisco Lawn Bowling Club (SFLBC) in
 Golden Gate Park beginning on Tuesday, September 24 and running through Friday,
 September 27. The prestigious annual event is sponsored by the Pacific Intermountain
Division (PIMD) of Bowls USA. 48 bowlers qualified for this year's finals in singles
and pairs formats with three bowlers qualified from SFLBC.  All competitions are
 free and open to the public for viewing at the club at 320 Bowling Green Drive.

Marking Time Exhibit on September 26
The Bay Area Photographers Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to peer
learning and a diversity of photographic styles, will present its 20th anniversary
exhibition "Marking Time" at the Harvey Milk Photo Center (50 Scott Street) from
 September 26 through October 26, 2019.  The opening reception will take place Thursday,
September 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. where the public can meet the artists and hear an
