Air Quality at SF Zoo

Our thoughts are with those in our California community impacted by the fires. For those of you wondering how the air quality has been at SF Zoo & Gardens, our proximity to the Pacific Ocean and shifting winds has allowed us to have good to moderate air quality consistently. The heat index is also low, which provides guests great relief.
Yellow-Legged Frog Release

For five years, we have worked in collaboration with Oakland Zoo and Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park to rear and release endangered Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frogs. On July 16th, our combined efforts led to the largest frog reintroduction in the Park to date! In total, 294 frogs were distributed to two adjacent lakes. Tadpoles collected from a nearby location for rearing this year and 106 late-stage tadpoles boarded the ship on its return then driven to San Francisco Zoo.
