Dear Friends,

As we continue to monitor up-to-date news reports and announcements of new cases of the coronavirus close to home, I wanted to personally assure you that we are doing all that we can to ensure the Zoo remains a safe place for our guests, our employees, and our animals.

As a primarily outdoor space that allows social distancing, San Francisco Zoo & Gardens remains open to be a resource for our community. Nevertheless, we are modifying our programming in keeping with government guidelines, and my staff is utilizing all known best practices to keep both human and animal safe. That said, things are changing rapidly, and at this time, the following is in place:
* We have increased hand sanitizers throughout the Zoo, and our environmental services team has increased cleaning areas of frequent use.
* We are temporarily canceling our public “animal talks" and feedings.
* For Zoo Members hoping to attend Members’ Appreciation Morning this Saturday, we sadly will need to cancel.
* The St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Stroll will continue to be held as it is self-guided.
* The South American Tropical Rainforest Aviary and Insect Zoo are closed until further notice.

Speaking of Zoo animals, we are carefully following any reports from the CDC regarding animals and the coronavirus, and so far, there are no reports of transmission of the disease. Nevertheless, we are asking staff to wear protective gear around our more sensitive animals, and we may ask our guests to distance themselves from certain animals.  The wellness of our animals, guests and employees is our top priority.
