Visit k2csf.org National Teach Children to Save Day April 24, 2020 was National Teach Children to Save Day and though it may have passed, it’s never too late to have your child understand the importance of saving, whether for college, a gift for family or friend, or a personal treat. Have a conversation on the ways they can save or show them how much they already have saved for college in their K2C account. Monthly Spotlight What To Do When You Want a Dog, But Don't Have One? Lucas, a Miraloma Elementary School 5th grader, always wanted a pet dog, so he decided to get a job walking Kelsie, his neighbor’s dog! A portion of the money he earns, he saves in his K2C account for when he goes to college! This is a win for both Lucas now and for his future! We want to spotlight you and your story! Email us at k2c at sfgov.org with the subject "Saver Story" to tell us why you save, how you save, when you started saving, or anything else about you or your child's participation in K2C. Lucas and Kelsie Ask a Student! Anyone can encourage a child's aspirations. We’ll provide a suggested question each month that you can ask students you know! This Month's Question: How do you want to change the world? May 1st National College Decision Day! Milo, who goes to Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, plans to attend Pratt this fall Traditionally, May 1 is the day that high school seniors must decide on the college they want to attend. Though your child may not be ready for that decision now, have a conversation about what post-secondary school they might want to attend. Send us a photo throughout May to our email at K2C at sfgov.org of your child wearing their future college school colors or dressed up as their future selves and we’ll post them on our Facebook page! In Your Mail Due to the school closures, the spring semester K2C Activity Reports will be mailed directly to your homes in May. Look for it in your mailbox! Expanding Our Outreach K2C now has a Spanish Facebook page, Instagram, and will begin piloting reaching families via text. More ways for everyone to keep updated! Emergency Withdrawals For families with savings in K2C and facing difficult financial situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, emergency withdrawal of funds is available. Go to the K2C website to download a Non-Qualified Withdrawal request form.
