A Message from Laurie Giammona
PG&E's Chief Customer Officer

 Dear Valued Customer:

This weekend, California will be experiencing a heatwave that will start on Saturday and last through Monday, Labor Day. Due to the forecasted rise in temperature, the state’s independent electric grid operator has issued a Flex Alert and is calling on Californians to conserve energy.

Just two weeks ago, when we asked our customers to reduce their electricity use during the afternoon and evening hours, we saw a decline in energy usage. This is proof that when Californians work together, we can accomplish great things that help us all.

What You Can Do to Help

To decrease the level of energy used in our state, we’re asking everyone to take small steps to reduce your power usage every day through Monday, September 7, especially from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

You can do this in several ways:

.;
Adjust your air conditioning thermostat to 78 degrees or higher, cooling your home to below normal levels in the morning and reducing your air conditioning during the afternoon hours.

.;
Use a fan instead of air conditioning.

.;
Draw your drapes and window coverings.

.;
Use large appliances less.

.;
Turn off unnecessary lighting.

Also, you can run larger appliances like your washing machine, dryer and dishwasher earlier in the day instead of the afternoon or evening. For more ways to conserve, visit

Thank You for Your Efforts

We value our responsibility to serve our customers safely and reliably. Thank you for your support and patience, and for working together with all of us across the state to conserve energy.
