Updates, news and events in San Francisco parks Brandon Crawford Helps Reopen Gilman Playground After Renovation Last Friday, we reopened the Gilman Playground baseball field with a first pitch by San Francisco Bay Sox Girls Baseball pitcher Angel to San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford! The field reopened after a renovation that repaired and upgraded the field, dugout, fencing and more. Thank you to Brandon, the Giants Community Fund, and Good Tidings Foundation for making this renovation possible. Thank you as well to everyone who came out to celebrate the renovation, including Mayor London Breed, State Senator Scott Wiener, Assemblymember David Chiu, Giants Public Address Announcer Renel Brooks-Moon, Lou Seal, and more. Be sure to grab your mitt and get out and play here soon! Giants Community Fund Masks Required Indoors for Public Spaces in San Francisco San Francisco and seven other Bay Area health officials have issued Health Orders requiring masks indoors in public places regardless of vaccination status, with limited exceptions, effective August 3. This means that masks must be worn indoors at all times by visitors (vaccinated and unvaccinated) to our facilities. For our aquatics facilities, mask must be worn indoors at all times unless swimming or showering. While vaccines remain the most powerful tool in the fight against COVID-19, including the Delta variant, a face covering offers an extra layer of protection and helps curtail the spread. For more information on getting vaccinated, click the link below. COVID-19 Vaccine in San Francisco San Francisco Celebrates National Night Out Thank you to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), our Park Rangers, and everyone who came out for citywide National Night Out block parties on August 3. This annual community-building campaign organized by SFPD promotes community partnerships and neighborhood comradery with the goal of creating safer and stronger neighborhoods. We were proud to have hosted many of these block parties in our parks, including Little Hollywood Park, Mission Playground, Minnie and Lovie Ward, Boeddeker Park, Duboce Park, and Balboa Park! We look forward to celebrating again next year!
