It’s never too early to start holiday shopping! Support the Zoo’s mission and buy a Zoo membership for yourself, or gift one to a friend or family member!  If you’re already a member and purchase a gift membership for someone else, you receive an extra month of your own membership FREE as a “thank you” from the Zoo.

And in honor of Giving Tuesday (or Giving ZOOday, as we like to call it) on November 30th, for every membership that you purchase for yourself or as a gift on that date, the Zoo will donate a family membership to an underserved family through our partnership with the students at Gateway and Oceania High Schools in the Bay Area.

With unlimited year-round admission 365 days a year, Zoo membership is truly the gift that keeps on giving. "Orangutan Caring Week" is an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the plight of this critically endangered species and their rainforest habitat. Wild orangutans face the constant pressure of extinction due to a variety of complicated issues including habitat loss and fragmentation, illegal poaching, and a high demand for palm oil for consumer products. As they cannot swim, they can become increasingly isolated in smaller and smaller patches of forest as palm oil plantations replace forest habitat.  This week, let’s ensure that our conservation efforts continue to help these majestic animals. The recent launch of our very own SF Zoo beer line has been a huge success! The specially brewed lager, India pale ale and hazy double IPA are named after groups of animals including "Conspiracy of Lemurs," "Tower of Giraffes" and "Meerkat Mob."
