SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear SFUSD Families:

I want to thank each and every one of you for doing your part to make sure your children screen for symptoms before heading to school every day, for making sure they are wearing a mask and for partnering with school staff to help your children navigate all of the big transitions that mark this moment in their lives.

As long as COVID is in our community, we recognize that there will be COVID cases in our schools. I am grateful all of the cases identified to date were mild or moderate and no one required hospitalization. Public health officials and doctors at UCSF have shared how impressed they are with our low case rates in SFUSD.

San Francisco has high vaccination rates among our community, including more than 95% of staff and 90% of students over 12 years old. Soon young people between 5 and 11 will be eligible for the vaccine and we will be partnering with the SF Department of Public Health to ensure vaccinations are easy to access. Let's all continue to do our part to decrease the spread!
