Join us for Eggstravaganza presented by Kinder Joy®!
Hop into spring at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens! Come and experience the beautiful blooms and celebrate Easter during Eggstravaganza presented by Kinder Joy® on Saturday, April 16! We had an overwhelming response and the egg hunts are full but there is still plenty of fun to be had!  As you explore the zoo, keep your eyes out to spot fascinating facts about a variety of animal eggs and make sure to get a photo with the Easter bunny while you’re here!

New at the Zoo!

We are excited to announce the hatching of three African sacred ibis chicks!  All three chicks are walking around the nest and exploring, and should fledge in the next few weeks. These hatchlings are now ambassadors for their species and are a significant part of bolstering Sacred Ibis populations under human care as a part of the AZA Species Survival Plan that manages animal populations within Zoos and Aquariums. Look out for them and their distinguished feeding calls to the parents during your visit to the African Aviary.

"Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" Scavenger Hunt

The new film, "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbedore," opens in theaters April 15. Join us at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens this Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to participate in a Beastly Scavenger Hunt to prepare for the launch of the film. Use the clues to search out various creatures at the zoo to unlock digital badges. Collect all of the badges to collect a prize, while supplies last. The scavenger hunt will start just past the Gate House.
Donate Your Old Electronic Devices to Benefit Gorillas
It's the final month of the Gorillas on the Line (GOTL) campaign! Please donate your used cell phones, smart phones, iPads, iPods, tablets, Apple watches, adapters and chargers, MP3 players, handheld gaming devices and headphones to benefit the annual GOTL campaign through April 30 in the specially designated collection bin located in the Membership Office! Better yet, host a recycle collection in your class, school, or club to help save gorillas.
You're Invited to ZooFest on May 13!
San Francisco Zoological Society's annual gala, ZooFest, will take place on Friday, May 13, 2022. As the Zoo's most important fundraising event, we're excited to welcome guests back to celebrate in person during "An Evening at the Oasis." Guests will be treated to a sumptuous dinner catered by McCall’s and to a special musical performance by Starship, featuring the amazing Mickey Thomas!

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented needs at the Zoo and your support is more important than ever. All of the proceeds from ZooFest go towards underwriting the Zoological Society's animal care general operating costs and our youth education and outreach programs. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Animals of all kinds use a wide range defense mechanisms and camouflage to "fool" other animals to protect themselves in the wild. This past April Fools Day, we highlighted the dead leaf mantis. This insect uses leaf mimicry which allows them to sneak up on prey and even prevents them from becoming prey themselves.  You can see these incredible insects in the Insect Zoo!
