ZOO HIGHLIGHTS
San Francisco Zoo & Gardens Achieves Accreditation
We are extremely proud to announce that last week, we received accreditation by the Association of Zoo and Aquariums (AZA)’s independent Accreditation Commission. This marks the 30^th consecutive year SF Zoo has been recognized as an AZA-accredited institution.

This rigorous process, which occurs every five years, includes a detailed application and meticulous multi-day inspection by a team of trained zoo and aquarium professionals. The inspecting team observes all aspects of the institution’s operation in areas such as animal care, keeper training, safety for visitors, staff and animals, education programs, conservation efforts, veterinary programs, financial stability, risk management and visitor services. AZA’s Accreditation Commission, made up of animal and industry experts from zoos and aquariums around the country, evaluates facilities to ensure its standards of care are met.

AZA accreditation is the gold standard, of which only the best zoos and aquariums in the country qualify through meeting or exceeding AZA’s high standards of excellence in animal care, health and wellness, living environments, education and commitment to conservation. Congratulations to our incredible team for all their hard work and dedication during this process!
The Family Farm is Now Open!

We are thrilled to announce that The Fisher Family Farm is officially open! The contact yard will be open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Masks are strongly recommended but not required. Thank you for your patience and we are excited to welcome you back to see our farm animals!
Join us for ZooFest in Two Weeks

San Francisco Zoological Society's annual gala, ZooFest, will take place on Friday, May 13, 2022. As the Zoo's most important fundraising event, we're excited to welcome guests back to celebrate in person during "An Evening at the Oasis." Guests will be treated to a sumptuous dinner catered by McCall’s and to a special musical performance by Starship, featuring the amazing Mickey Thomas!

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented needs at the Zoo and your support is more important than ever. All of the proceeds from ZooFest go towards underwriting the Zoological Society's animal care general operating costs and our youth education and outreach programs. SF Zoo Members Receive Free Admission to the Exploratorium

On April 30th – May 1st we are celebrating our Members by partnering with the Exploratorium for the weekend! All SF Zoo Members will receive free admission into the Exploratorium—all you need to do is show your SF Zoo Membership card when you arrive. Free admission will cover all members normally included in your membership package. Celebrate Mother's Day at SF Zoo

Celebrate the mom in your life with a trip to SF Zoo to see our beautiful gardens this Mother's Day, May 8!  From our native California gardens, featuring native plants that you can use as inspiration for your home garden, to the many African plants, including the many protea species, that can be found around the Leanne B. Roberts African Savanna, we have a variety of colorful blooms for you and your mom to enjoy! While supplies last, we will have a special Mother's Day sticker for your mom upon arrival.
Donate Your Old Electronic Devices to Benefit Gorillas by April 30

The final countdown for the Gorillas on the Line (GOTL) campaign is on! Please donate your used cell phones, smart phones, iPads, iPods, tablets, Apple watches, adapters and chargers, MP3 players, handheld gaming devices and headphones (no laptops please!) to benefit the annual GOTL campaign through April 30 in the specially designated collection bin located in the Membership Office!
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Earlier this week we celebrated World Penguin Day!  We are proud to maintain the largest and most successful breeding colony of Magellanic penguins under human care since 1985. To celebrate the day, we shared some cool footage our of penguins swimming underwater. Check out the incredible video here.
