Math Grade Update - Currently receiving a "D" or "F"

Hello,

This is Ms. He, your child’s math teacher at Hoover Middle School. You are
receiving this email because your child is currently failing math class
(receiving a D or F) for the P1 grading period.

To check which assignments they are missing or which assignments they need
to revise, you can log into ParentVue, or have your child log into
StudentVue.

Click on “Gradebook” → “CCSS Math 6” → “P1” .

Your child’s grades are frequently updated on StudentVue / ParentVue and it
is recommended that you and your child check grades together at least once
per week to make sure they are up to date on all assignments.

Listed below are the assignments I would suggest students prioritize and
complete (in this order), for the best chance of improving their grades
before the end of the Fall semester.

Missing assignments must be submitted by Wednesday, October 11, at 4:00 PM.

1. ALEKS <http://www.aleks.com> Initial Knowledge Check (www.aleks.com)

This assignment was due on Friday, September 22nd. Students were instructed
to answer 25-30 questions to the best of their ability. ALEKS is an
adaptive learning software. The purpose of the Initial Knowledge Check is
to determine what the student already knows, and what the student is most
ready to learn. Students are not allowed to ask for help / search up the
answers. If they don't know the answer, they were instructed to click "I
don't know." This assignment is graded for completion!

2. Unit 6.1 Formative Assessment 1: Number Lines [REVISIONS]

Answer key and detailed instructions on how to complete revisions for the
formative assessment (quiz) was posted on Google Classroom under “Unit 6.1”
on September 18th. The final grade for the quiz will be an average of their
original score and their revisions score. Students are encouraged to use
the answer key to help them understand and fix their original mistakes.

3. Unit 6.1 Formative Assessment 2: Absolute Values + Coordinates
[REVISIONS]

Answer key and detailed instructions on how to complete revisions for the
formative assessment (quiz) will be posted on Google Classroom under “Unit
6.1” on October 5th. The final grade for the quiz will be an average of
their original score and their revisions score. Students are encouraged to
use the answer key to help them understand and fix their original mistakes.

4. Any and all other missing assignments. Students are expected to complete
15 ALEKS topics per week, graded every Friday at 11:59 PM. Missing or
incomplete ALEKS topics cannot be made up. Please check to make sure that
your child is completing all their weekly topics on time. A video tutorial

Resources I provide to support your child:

1. Homework Club (every Thursday in room B12) to support your child with
completing homework (math booklet pages and ALEKS).

2. I have created a Self-Help Study Guide

that includes videos, practice problems, and interactives for every topic
we have learned in math class thus far. Your child can use this resource as
they complete their missing assignments.

3. I will be providing extra tutoring this Friday, October 6th at lunch and
after school to assist your child with their missing and incomplete
assignments. If your child plans to attend, please let me know by
responding to this email with their name and math class period.

My grading policy is attached for your reference. This grading policy has
already been shared with students earlier in the school year, and students
were instructed to bring the paper copy of the grading policy home to share
with families.

If there are any circumstances that prevent your child from being able to
complete their assignments, please let me know as soon as possible. If you
