Notes: Kai hadn't completed the homework because they couldn't find it on
Canvas, so I printed it out for them to complete at the start of class.
>From there, we transitioned into talking about our unit assessment, which
will be a short story that has specific vocabulary requirements to meet.
They were in good spirits but not fully engaged during class.

Notes: Kai came to class full of energy, eager to share their storyboard.
However, that energy seemed to disappear once we moved to our coursework.
After our discussion and a video on biodiversity with questions, Kai made
it clear they'd rather work on their storyboard instead of finishing the
assignment. They also didn't feel like going back into the video to answer
a question. I noted that this was unexpected, especially since they'd told
me they preferred learning from videos, yet their disengagement felt
greater than before. I'm planning on collaborating with other instructors
that have Kai to see their strategies on how to improve their engagement in
class.
As always, we like to remind parents that absences and tardiness can slow
pacing and ultimately lead to mastery sessions.
