# Removal of PG&E Tower Marks Milestone in India Basin Waterfront Park Project
Rec and Park is proud to share the
successful removal (https://t.e2ma.net/click/06ru6j/wfcl20hc/kyafjv)
of a Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) transition tower from the future site of
India Basin Waterfront Park (https://t.e2ma.net/click/06ru6j/wfcl20hc/0qbfjv), marking a major step in transforming the Bayview-Hunters Point shoreline into a vibrant public open space.
The 2.3-acre parcel where the 60-foot steel tower once stood will be transformed into an inviting gateway to the 10-acre waterfront park. The removal expands usable open space and enhances community access to the shoreline.
Once a stark reminder of the area's industrial past, the tower has been relocated to another site further from the park. Its removal represents meaningful progress toward environmental healing, equity, and a decades-long vision for a healthy, inclusive, and connected waterfront.
The tower's removal is the result of a unique partnership between Rec and Park and PG&E, united by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community equity. Learn more at the link below.

* New road striping scheduled for November 6, 7, and 10
* A dedicated northbound bike lane replacing the old shared lane, connecting the JFK Promenade to MLK Drive
* Painted bulb-outs at Middle Drive to improve safety
Once striping is complete, the protected two-way bikeway between Overlook Drive and the JFK Promenade will also be reinstalled. All existing parking will remain.
If a road closure is needed during striping, one lane will stay open for two-way traffic between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Bicyclists are welcome to use the full drive lane alongside vehicles during this time.
