Zoo Lights Begins

It's that time of year again to enjoy the Zoo at night under magical holiday lights!
Starting December 12, Zoo Lights returns with live entertainment, costumed characters
and more animals to see. Make your way from Entry Village to the Elinor Friend Playground
along decorated paths filled with cheer. Visit Santa's reindeer Belle, Holly, Peppermint,
and Velvet at Playfield Lawn. Stroll around with a cup of hot cocoa enjoying the
 sights and sounds of the holidays.

Recycle your old phone and accessories, like car or home chargers, at the Membership
Services Office anytime between now and January 30 and all of the proceeds will

Ghurka, the Snow Leopard Returns
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We are thrilled to welcome Ghurka the snow leopard back to the San Francisco Zoo
 where he will join Kelley in the snow leopard habitat early next year. Ghurka was
born at the San Francisco Zoo on May 9, 2000, and his mother Ming Wah contributed
significantly to the captive population within AZA. At her death in 2011, Ming Wah
was 19 years old and was one of the oldest snow leopards in North American Zoos.
 Ghurka was from the last litter of snow leopards born at the Zoo and is now himself
returning with a breeding recommendation with Kelley. He is coming to us from the
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
